Our move

Lovely huh? Our dryer's out was not hooked up, and apparently the people who lived here before did not realize it. So Scott climbed behind our stackable washer/dryer and vacuumed the walls and got all of the lint that was back there. This was not even all of it. Gross!
Today we bought some ply wood and Scott got it cut it down for new shelves. However, the gentleman who cut the wood at the store was off by a touch. So Scott improvised.
You can see our new addition to the cubbards here and below. Ahh, more shelving!

It's amazing what two shelves will do to the world's smallest pantry. You have to remember that at our previous apartment, the pantry was gigantic and we had shelves in every single closet. We have completely downsized.
Our cute little kitchen. Again, using as much space for storage as possible.
We had to convert a bookshelf into an extended pantry. All of our canned food sits here infront of our water heater.
This has to be my favorite. We bought this over-the-toilet shelf at the DI...(our apartment doesn't even have a linen closet!!!). Then mom and I bought a new shower caddy (the shower even lacks ledges to put your bottles on!!). So we had our old little shower caddy with no purpose. I got creative. It now holds our toothbrushes, toothpaste, q-tips, some vaseline, and whatever else we feel like putting in it.

23 weeks, Christmas

23 Weeks. If you couldn't tell by the color of the dress....we're having a GIRL!
Since we moved right before Christmas, we did not invest in a tree of any sort. This blow up tree was sent to us by my Aunt Maudie a year ago. We put some lights on it and some presents under it!
Scott made a smoked turkey and it was delish. It was his first turkey. Below is my mom helping him carve it.
 My oatmeal dinner rolls.

Brian's Graduation

Brian spoke at his convocation. Let me rephrase that, he was the only speaker at his convocation and after him was President Clark and Elder Jenson who each said a word. Brian was no 4.0 student, he infact only was at the school for like 3 semesters. They just liked him!

The days leading up to that will be finishing packing and cleaning. Until next time...

20 weeks

It is amazing to think that we made it to 5 months already! From here on out it's nothing but growing for the baby. All the major things are done being developed, it's all about putting on the weight now (for both me and the baby!)

Poo

So you won't be hearing about what we are having (and neither will we) for another 2 weeks. Apparently whoever told us that our ultrasound was for today, was wrong-o. They try really hard to not have this ultrasound before 20 weeks. Currently I am 3 days short of that! So our official official by doctor official appointment day is December 16. And even then it is iffy. I say that because that is the first day of finals, and we haven't checked our finals schedule. So even that appointment may change. Can I just say how incredibly bummed I am right now?!

Thanksgiving Week

It hasn't started yet officially yet...but I still wanted to do a Thanksgiving post! This is just something that has been on my mind lately, especially as I sit here eating clam chowder (it'll make sense in a sec I promise!)
Scott is such an awesome guy. If you don't know him, you should- or at least get to know him better. Scott is understanding. Even though I'm spending all my money on food (clam chowder) now that I am pregnant, he knows it's for not just me but his future child. hehe. Or that's what I keep reminding him.
Scott has this nickname that my mom calls him lovingly...the "energizer bunny". He has SO much energy. I cannot keep him in the house for very long. I know without a doubt that in the future when he comes home after work and I am pooped with being at home with the kids, he is going to find this energy and spend it all on our kids. It's sort of funny, but when Scott is out running around playing, I think of it as, "oh good. He'll be tired by the time we go to bed." I find I have the same mentality when it comes to kids. It's such an endearing quality of his.
Scott is a worry wart. It drives me nuts and it makes me sane. I have a lot of "yellow" qualities...the free flowing, whatever happens happens mentality. It gets me in trouble sometimes. However Scott keeps me in check with all of these scenarios he comes up with. He's always thinking ahead which has helped us out a ton! Like the idea that we should save money for our 7 week break vacation we took...I thought, "Oh we'll just use money we have leftover from school." Good for Scott. :)
Scott has the most interesting way of thinking of things. He's a boy, an engineer, and did I mention a boy? When I think of a solution to something Scott becomes fascinated with it. He keeps telling me I should be an engineer because of my creative answers to things. He reminds me all the time he is a quirky engineer with the things he is so excited to tell me about at the end of the day. Like, "Being an engineer is so cool. I mean, I can calculate how much force and where it needs to be to be able to knock down that building. How cool is that!" Or my favorite..."I can calculate how much more gas it costs to have that antenna ball on your car because of the drag." Thank you Scott. Next time I need to knock a building down or figure out inefficient something is, I know who to go to.
I know when Scott is doing something he shouldn't be doing. He has this look. Then when I ask him about it, he gives me another look. He's a horrible liar. He complains that I shouldn't have been able to figure him out so soon.
In the end I'm thankful to be married to such an awesome guy. The little things that get him excited, the nerdy moments he has, and all the times he gives me an "innocent" look are just some of the small things that make me love him more and more. It's only been a little less than 2 1/2 years of being married, but I know that I love him more now than ever! I know it's only going to get better.

Two more weeks until we find out what we are having. I stinking cannot wait! And if you couldn't tell by now, I will be posting weekly photos of the baby via my belly.

Scott's 25 Birthday

For Scott's birthday, this is what the weather man gave him. 4 inches of snow! His brother Aaron came up from Utah for the weekend. We had a birthday dinner for him Sunday night, which I didn't even bring a camera! But in attendance, we had the New York Clan: Rosario's, McGuire's, (us), then we had the Steele's, Price's, Seely's, Child's, Aaron and Marci, and the Kirkam's. It was hosted at the Kirkam's house, who are amazing. Paulette made an amazing dinner that everyone was drooling over. I made 2 pumpkin pies, an apple pie, and a pudding dessert that didn't survive. But we also had homemade eggnog that Scott did the honors of making. We had a great time.
Also on his birthday, I complete my 16th week of being pregnant...aka 4 months! We had an appointment today, which was interesting. I learned I have A- blood, which means I have to get a couple extra shots to prevent anything bad happening at birth. It's called the RH factor. Basically, when I am about 28 weeks pregnant I am going to get a shot called an Rh immunoglobulin (RhIg). If my baby is RH positive (which we won't know until birth) I will receive another shot. However if the baby is negative I don't need it. When the baby is in the womb, blood cells are too big to pass through the placenta, however antibodies are not. So if I get sensitized after this baby (please go to this link to read more) that means I develop antibodies to the RH positive antogin. If I have another baby and they are RH positive, my body would be a hostile environment for it to grow in. My antibodies would attack the baby. It's basically bad news.

I also had concerns about a cramp in my left calf, which my doctor immediately perked his ears to. He had me go right to the hospital after my appointment and get an ultrasound on my leg to make sure I didn't have a blood clot...which turns out there is none! woo! There are several other things that I learned from my appointment that I will just leave it at that. :D We also are having our next appointment a whole week earlier so we find out that much sooner what we're having! woo!!

Where did that come from?

So the other night Scott and I were picking up in our room and he looked over at me and asked, "Are you pushing your stomach out?" I said, "No, but now I'm self conscience about it!" He said, "Ah, you're starting to show for reals!" I said, "It's just cause it's later in the day, I'm full of food. :D"

Halloween Weekend

Everybody's posts for this weekend were so cute. I spent a lot of my morning reading them, and I'm sure I'll keep reading them as they come! Ours was eventful and less eventful all in one. It started off with Friday night, going to the Ottosen's for a last minute get together. I stole this photo from Jessica's blog. Rebekah also posted about that night on her blog.
That night Scott and I left at about 9ish to go to Winco and do some grocery shopping. We needed food and since there were other plans for the weekend, this was the night to do it. While we were out I started feeling really sick, like my throat was killing and I had this monstrous headache. Needless to say it was a fast but successful trip to Winco.
Scott and a partner won a design competition that ASME put on at our school! He and his partner split $100 in ones for the grand prize. Woo!

And then, if you remember last Halloween we had a pumpkin throwing with the trebushet. Well this year, they went down to ISU to compete against theirs. Scott said that there was no competition. With how many times this thing had been launched and tested, they knew exactly what settings to put on the trebushet to reach their target. They had a whole spread sheet with the data that ISU just about flipped seeing. One of the bummers is that there was no fork lift to take the trebushet down from the trailer. So they had to work with it, but still beat ISU. :D

As I started saying with Friday night, I spent my Halloween weekend sick. I went to our complex's trunk or treat for about 20 minutes to grab some chili. I watched everyone outside our window until Scott came home. Then we watched The Terminal and Minority Report. Two totally different movies, but good. We missed our friend's party due to my state and I missed church on Sunday.

However, for good new for me, today I am 15 weeks. I don't look much different from the picture I took at 13 weeks, but oh well! We have a doctor's appointment next week which means the appointment after that we'll find out what we're having!
PS the bulge in my pocket is my cell phone. :D

some misc.

Scott wanted me to document that he made curry. It's not the fact that he made it, it's how much he made. It was the entire box. We had left overs and froze the majority of it. He says he's practicing feeding everyone in our future family. Oh my.
Here I am at 13 weeks and a couple days. Or 3 months and a week. However you want to look at it. I'm officially in my second trimester! Oh my. We heard our baby's heart beat the day before I left for Boise. After about 3 seconds of listening to it, I started laughing! I couldn't help it. It was too cool and weird all at the same time. There is another heartbeat besides my own! It's funny cause I sometimes think my tummy has a mind of it's own with food. Well, it at least has a heartbeat!
