It's a Wonderful Life

Pardon the Christmas title, but it truly is! This post is all about mine and Scott's 4th anniversary trip. We saved up and budgeted for a 2 night getaway to the beach for $200. Thanks to a little extra dough from family, we splurged and spent about $250. So here is what happened...in photos. Our trip to Charleston, SC. On our actual anniversary (which we didn't take any photos) it was a Thursday. So we got sushi and went to the cheap theater and saw Men in Black 3. (loved it)
the drive...we're almost there!

First day at the beach.
For those who have never been to an east coast beach before (like me) they have these dunes between the houses and the shore. They have these walkways like you see below.

I'm in love.

The fishing pier. It's not quite like my Santa Monica pier, but it will do.

First time in the Atlantic!

They don't lie, it is much warmer than the pacific!

I haven't seen a seagull in....how long?

basking in the sun after playing in the waves.

I thought this was cool. For sea turtles they have these little protected areas for their nests. Too bad we didn't see any.

The fishing pier.

The view from the pier. A lot more people then where we were at.

The houses here are all built up on stilts. I took a lot, but chose this one because of the trees growing under it.

Folly Beach, our first day.

Walking around Folly beach's houses.

Short cut.

For a nickle more...you could have a blue house.

He was dead.
After the beach Friday morning, we went into downtown Charleston. This was the view from the parking garage. BEAUTIFUL homes/buildings. I would move here in an instant. You'll see more why.

Our lunch. OH MY. It was delicious. Spectacular. Blaaaah it is too good. Oysters, stuffed shrimp, and a seafood caserole with scallops, crab, shrimp, and lobster sauce. mmmmmmm so oso sos oso sosossoo good.

Water park. The weather was beautiful. A little too warm, but still good.

They had all these little water areas to play in. Made me miss Addi!

battle ship.

loving my palm trees.

oh the homes...

drool...

On our walk to Battery Park

There were lots of these guys in here. Charleston was a big part of many wars because of it's port.

old old old homes!

step.
We kept finding all of these slabs of concrete and couldn't figure out what they were for until we saw this one (because it has an extra level to it.) They were used for dismounting horses! Durr.
cool stair way!

Church building in the middle of the city.
That night in our hotel room we watched the Olympics. Since we don't have cable at home, it was a luxury to lay in bed and watch them until we fell asleep.
Our last day we went to Isles of Palms. Another island off of Charleston. It was PACKED. So glad we spent most of our beach time at the other beach. This island had all of the rentals/tourists. So it was packed. These three pics from the beach are a surrounding picture of where we sat. Can you see the water???

A big shout out goes to my mom and aunt who were visiting and got to babysit Addilyn for 2 1/2 days.
