Oh you know, it's only April

This sums up my awesome life. This year we have gone to Disney World, (this was at Daytona Beach), and NYC. We've changed wards at church due to a ward splitting and getting sucked in with boundary changes. We have lost some friends due to moving, but have gained new ones in other places of our lives. We've had opportunities to serve those in hardships and been overwhelmed with blessings. So if I'm not blogging, it's all good. Because we are. Good that is.

2016

This past year, 2015 has been eventful. The biggest highlight was when we had Ryder. Then Addilyn having mono. We had life changing moments- Addilyn going into preschool. Ya ya ya..preschool big whoop. But really- It's a new stage in my life as a parent. We actually have a set schedule. Scott also switched jobs- he still works for B/E but with a different group and building.

2016 will be another fun year! Disneyworld, NYC, a cruise....to travel is to live! Addilyn will start Kindergarten (and I'll really melt down). Levi will be 3 and will start up a real co-op preschool again in the fall. And my baby will turn 1!!

Our Anniversary

Friday night: We went to the Greensboro Children's Museum for the first time. WHAT you say? We went to a museum that's somewhat close to us for the FIRST time? Ya...this one isn't free for us. But you bet your bottom we went on the $2 a person night (rather than $8)! And as a cool note- this airplane below had of course, seats in it. Scott being the curious guy lifted the seat and saw that they are in fact B/E Aerospace seats. They're in horrible condition. So Scott made it his job to see that B/E donates new seats for the museum. They're going to have a ribbon cutting and everything and have a small exhibit for the kids. I'd say I'm pretty proud of him for that. He didn't even talk to me about it first! He just went ahead! (not that he needs to... normally though I would have heard him mention something about his idea of doing it)

My big kids

Saturday (the day before our anniversary) we went out to an early dinner. We went to this AMAZING oyster bar. We order crab cakes as an appetizer and their full moon platter to split. It contained: crab, oysters, clams, muscles, scallops (we ordered extra of those), shrimp, and buttterrrrrrrrr. It was so amazing, we ordered another one. The waitresses were extremely impressed that we could pound down so much seafood. It was THE best that we've had. They shucked our oysters right there.

Happy SEVEN years to us!!
Our actual anniversary was on Sunday, August 9th.

Arriving after the airport- Ryder's not too sure
muskrats
Grandma Jadwin flew in the day after my birthday, June 24. It was a late night- but did that stop us in the morning? NO WAY! We went and spent the first part of the (hot & humid) day at SciQuarium in Greensboro. We started outside in the zoo area to try and "beat the heat" bahhh.

Levi & a lemur!

We watched the scuba guy clean and then answer questions from the water. The kids were all sitting on the ground in front and the scuba guy came right up to Levi and put his hand on the window. Levi didn't know what he was doing until he saw Addi high-five him. Levi caught on and did it. It was pretty special for him!
She's finally brave enough to do it on her own!
These pictures are uploading weird!

While Grandma was here, Ryder started smiling just slightly. You had to egg him on a lot to get him to do anything. There's a lot of photos of the maybe smiles.
Then one day we went to the park...and Ryder had a BLOWOUT of all blowouts. He hadn't pooped in many days so it was a ticking time bomb. Thank goodness my mom was here because it was everywhere.

It was a family event.

her face is just priceless...
Addilyn had her first dentist appointment. We left Ryder and Levi with Grandma. I went first so she watched everything. I wasn't a very good example because one of the lovely "side effects" of pregnancy is bleeding gums due to the extra blood that's pumping through your body. Since I was only about 4 weeks post-partum, my gums still were bleeding. Poor girl thought it hurt! That's why she's laying on me, she wouldn't by herself. After she said it tickled. Then they painted on the fluoride and she thought that was the best part. She now thinks the dentist paints her teeth.

Clean teeth!

Whenever my mom comes, we always have some sort of project to do. A couple years ago we canned dilly beans, another year we watched a bunch of VHS home videos with the intent to put them on DVD. The first year at our house we were painting our ceilings after we had removed the popcorn...You get the picture. This year we canned chicken. It was my third time using our pressure cooker that she got us a while ago. I bought 40 pounds of chicken and man...it was time consuming. My mom cut all of the chicken and we tag teamed filling jars and prepping them to cook. We were successful. Even though I couldn't stand to eat the chicken until all the smell was out of my house-it's been awesome to have!!
And another activity we did- we went to SciWorks which is by Scott's work. They have a new exhibit and it is awesome! Half of it was sports themed and the other half was construction stuff. The kids went nuts in there.

This green screen showed us kicking and blocking soccer balls from a goal. It was pretty cool. And the kids obviously though it was awesome.

In the summer the theaters around here do summer movies at 10am. Depending on where you go, they range from free to just a couple dollars. The place we frequent is free and you can buy popcorn for $1. Grandma tagged along and we saw something...I don't remember now.

Ryder's blessing

Grandmas! And please note that Ryder is smiling!
Ryder Jadwin Smith was blessed July 5th here in Winston-Salem. It was our first time blessing one of our kids at church. Addilyn was blessed at Grandma/pa Smith's house and Levi at the Western's. In addition to the boys in our family who helped with the blessing, we also had our friend Brett Pettit.

Ryder was blessed in the same outfit that Scott was blessed in, all of his uncles, all of his boy cousins, and his brother Levi too.
